Mangwanani African Spa

Founded in 2002 by Erin Limbert (CEO), Mangwanani was borne out of personal preference to establish a retreat where one could be pampered from head to toe and indulge in sheer decadence.  The greatest challenge was to market the totally unique concept of an African spa coupled with decadent revitalization, which has become Mangwanani’s trademark today.

Mangwanani’s main goal is to uplift rural woman and not necessarily employ and use qualified therapists, therefore allowing previously disadvantaged woman from local communities, to be empowered by their natural and inherent abilities.

With a great deal of support from her family, together with a tremendous amount of determination and passion, Mangwanani the Original African Day Spa was born in 2002
Mangwanani African Spa has developed its own signature range of products, which are uniquely South African catering for Relaxation and Spa Therapies. All products are made with natural and naturally derived ingredients and fragranced with essential oil inline with our awareness of our carbon footprint.

National Golf Club

The Bluff National Park Golf course is set in a beautiful wetland conservation area in Kwa Zulu Natal South Africa.  Fish Eagle soar overhead and the gregarious Plovers, known locally as Kiwiet’s raise their young in the rough - beware the unwary golfer that ventures too close.  Herons gracefully stalk the abundant fish and pesky moles. Sometimes we are even privileged to receive a visit from the “B52 Bombers” the Pelicans who stop to share the water with the resident Geese and Cormorants.

We invite you to come and play on our challenging course – we would love to have the opportunity to host your corporate golf days, sponsored golf days, private functions, weddings and birthdays. The Sandpiper Room can accommodate up to 120 guests and catering is available.

Playhouse Theatre

_DSC6659a.jpg

Durban’s Playhouse complex links the city’s present with its past. The current theatre facade preserves two of the city’s most famous landmarks, situated adjacent to each other in central Smith Street opposite the City Hall, first conceived as cinemas, namely the glamorous Prince’s Theatre, which originated in 1926, and the grand, Tudor-styled Playhouse, which originally opened its doors to public fanfares and capacity house in 1935.

In the early 1980s, these two celebrated entertainment venues underwent expert renovation and conversion into a state-of-the-art, multi-venue theatre complex that faithfully preserved many of the buildings’ original characteristics and architectural features. This was officially opened in the mid ’80s as The Natal Playhouse, subsequently to become known by its present-day title The Playhouse, KwaZulu-Natal’s premier theatre complex and home of The Playhouse Company.

Barnyard Theatre

The Barnyard Theatre concept was the brainchild of Louis Möller and his wife Sybel Coetzee, who own the franchise with Duck Chowles. Louis and Sybel have both been involved in the performing arts most of their lives, and after a few years of dairy farming near Plettenberg Bay, longed for a way to combine their two loves - the footlights and their farm. The original Barnyard Theatre was established in a converted barn on their dairy farm and, from here, their interest in the theatre and live entertainment blossomed into a series of similar venues around the country. The Barnyard Theatre at Gateway was the first fully-fledged commercial venue and was pioneered by owner Debbie Davidson whose hands-on approach ensures the highest levels of personalised service.

Theatre remains magical because it responds to the communal needs of society and the informal atmosphere at The Barnyard lends itself to this as shows are particularly formatted to ensure that the audience becomes the final cast member. Locals warmed to the informal venue immediately and, a mere 11 months after opening, The Barnyard Theatre at Gateway was the recipient of Marketing Excellence Award from the Institute of Marketing Management.

Catalina Theatre

The Catalina Theatre was one of the first businesses to open its doors at Durban's iconic Wilson's Wharf. Since its inception the theatre has sought to stage a variety of artistic works with the specific aim and intention of bringing these new artitsic works (and the artists involved) into the public eye - an extremely difficult and challenging task. The company was registered as a Not For Profit Company in 2006 so that it can better serve its development goals. We are incredibly grateful to RCL Foods, Themi Venturas, Ethekwini Municipality and the Department of Arts and Culture KZN for the funding that they give. Without their assistance, the shear cost of operating a theatre in the city would ensure the company's closure and we surely wouldn't be able to do as much good for the artists and the arts industry in Durban.
